Bombay Scottish School case: Medical examination of sexual abuse accused teacher Bipasha Kumar completed, lookout circular issued against UK resident co-accused Dr. Shomita Banerjee

The accused teacher, Bipasha Kumar, is alleged to have sexually exploited the victim between January 24, 2024, and February 28, 2025. This allegedly occurred in a car, specifically near Kirti College to Saraswat Colony sidewalk, and at three hotels: JW Marriott in Juhu, President Hotel in Vile Parle, and The Lalit Hotel.

Mumbai: Former teacher of Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, Bipasha Kumar (age 40) has been accused of alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old student. Mumbai Police has completed the medical examination related to Bipasha’s mental and physical health. At the same time, a lookout circular (LOC) has been issued against UK-based co-accused Dr. Shomita Banerjee, involved in this case.

What is the whole matter?

According to the police, Bipasha Kumar sexually abused the student between 24 January 2024 and 28 February 2025. The abuse allegedly took place in the car (from Kirti College to Saraswat Colony footpath) and in three five-star hotels in Mumbai — JW Marriott (Juhu), President Hotel (Vile Parle), and The Lalit Hotel.

Accused, Dr. Shomita Banerjee, is hiding in the UK

Dr. Shomita Banerjee, who has been living in the United Kingdom since last Diwali, is accused of mentally convincing the victim student to have physical relations with Bipasha Kumar and giving him the stress-relieving drug Dantrolene 50mg. Mumbai Police is trying to contact her through email and diplomatic channels.

Bipasha Kumar is in judicial custody for 14 days

The police arrested Bipasha Kumar and presented her in court. After four days of police custody, the court has sent her to judicial custody for 14 days. The police have seized her mobile phone and have also started its digital forensic investigation.

Alcohol and expensive gifts are also mentioned

The investigation has also revealed that Bipasha made the student drink alcohol and also consumed alcohol herself. Apart from this, matters like expensive gifts, clothes, and serving food in restaurants are also being investigated.

Information is also sought from the school administration

The police have written a letter to Bombay Scottish School seeking information related to the student’s educational information and the appointment and resignation of teacher Bipasha Kumar. It is also being investigated whether any other student had also made a complaint against this teacher.

Interrogation of hotel management also continues

Mumbai Police is also interrogating the management of JW Marriott, President Hotel, and The Lalit Hotel so that CCTV footage, registration details, and billing information of the relevant time can be collected.

Preparation of medical examination and statement of the victim

The medical examination of the victim student has also been done, and his statement will be recorded before the court soon.
